EHS Players Named All-Apollo Conference Football, LOVC Teams Named

Effingham High School had 10 players named to the All-Apollo Conference Football Team.

Picking up First Team honors were Jordan McCabe (defensive back), Drew Niebrugge (offensive line), Matthew Robinson (offensive line), Terrence Hill (running back), Frank Schniederjon (defensive line), Noah Spencer (defensive line), Braden Hasty (linebacker) and Logan Smith (punter).

Other players named were:

Offensive Line -- Ben Stahl (Mahomet-Seymour), Joe Fallin (Taylorville), Corbyn Bender (Mount Zion).

Wide Receivers -- Justin Wright (Taylorville), Josh Johnson (Mahomet-Seymour), Dawson Johns (Mount Zion)

Running Backs -- Titus Cannon (Lincoln), Evan Champley (Taylorville)

Quarterback -- Brandon Odam (Taylorville)

Defensive Line -- Kayden Wright (Taylorville), Ben Stahl (Mahomet-Seymour)

Linebacker -- Kyle Woods (Taylorville), Daunte Roberts (Mahomet-Seymour), Evan Champley (Taylorville)

Three Effingham players were named to the Second Team. Smith, who also drew First Team honors, was named wide receiver. Parker Seachrist was named linebacker and Kendall Ballman was named defensive back.

Other Second Team honors went to:

Offensive Line -- Josh Blood (Mattoon), Mike Milligan (Mount Zion), Jake Benninger (Lincoln), Kayden Wright (Taylorville), Gage Wilson (Lincoln)

Wide Receivers -- Kolby Clark (Mount Zion), Landon Hoshauer (Mattoon)

Running Backs -- Abe Baker (Mattoon), Sage Davis (Mount Zion), Lucas Morgan (Mahomet-Seymour)

Quarterback -- Jack Pilson (Mattoon)

Defensive Line -- Christian Fyke (Mount Zion), Jackson Nichols (Mattoon), Jack Kettelkamp (Taylorville), Jack Vaughn (Mahomet-Seymour)

Linebackers -- Lucas Morgan (Mahomet-Seymour), Andrew Schollmeier (Mount Zion), Austin Sparrow (Lincoln)

Defensive Backs -- Will Kettelkamp (Taylorville), Griffin Green (Charleston), Josh Johnson (Mahomet-Seymour)

Effingham won the Apollo Conference with a 6-0 record and finished 9-2 overall, reaching the second round of playoffs.

Following the Hearts in the Apollo standings were Taylorville 5-1 (10-2), Mahomet-Seymour 4-2 (6-4), Mount Zion 3-3 (5-4), Mattoon 2-4 (2-7), Lincoln 1-5 (3-6) and Charleston 0-6 (0-9)

 

All-Little Okaw Valley Conference

Cumberland High School finished the season winning the Little Okaw Valley Conference, Southeast Division title with a 5-0 record and went 8-3 overall.

The Pirates had eight players named to the All-Conference First Team. Named were Dayton Mitchell (offensive line), Gabe Hatfill (quarterback), Coltin Scott (running back & defensive back), Tyson Magee (wide receiver), Dalton Antrim (linebacker), Tyson Magee (defensive back) and Kade Warner (place kicker).

Named to the Second Team were Eli Buchanan (offensive line), Ryan Yaw (offensive skill position) and Zach Wolke (defensive skill position),.

Myles Gerhardt was named defensive honorable mention.
