EHS Frosh/Soph Down Salem in Football

Effingham High School's freshman/sophomore football squad captured a 20-8 victory over Salem in action Saturday.
The Hearts tallied a touchdown and scored on a two-point conversion for an 8-0 first quarter lead. EHS then took a 14-0 lead with a touchdown in the second period. The Wildcats came back with a touchdown and a two-point conversion in the third period. But the Hearts sealed it with a final quarter score.
Nathan Shackelford hit 13 of 23 passes for 127 yards and a touchdown. Logan Brown carried the ball 14 times for 41 yards. Tyler Marschewski had 13 carries for 39 yards and a touchdown. He also returned a kickoff 75 yards for a score.
Kaleb Kihne had three receptionns for 25 yards while Cameron Kalber had four receptions for 73 yards and a touchdown. Jett GIllum had four catches for 14 yards.
Defensive leaders were Luke Spencer with three tackles and a sack, Andy Nashed with three tackles, Hayvin Prather with two tackles and Dawson Whitten with two tackles and a sack.
