EIU to Broadcast Home Football Games Again

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois athletics has announced that it will broadcast its home football games on WEIU TV once again this fall. The Panthers will carry a minimum of four home games on the regional TV station with the possibility of a fifth game should the Ohio Valley Conference not select the Panthers November 5 game for its OVC Wildcard Game of the Week.
The five game schedule kicks off with the season opener on Thursday, Sept. 1 as the Panthers host in-state rival Western Illinois. Additional confirmed broadcasts include the Sept. 24 Family Weekend game versus Austin Peay, Oct. 8 Hall of Fame game versus Tennessee State and Oct. 22 Homecoming game versus Murray State. The Panthers Nov. 5 game is against UT Martin and will be carried by WEIU if not selected to be the ESPN3 OVC game that week.
Veteran broadcasters Mike Bradd and Jack Ashmore will provide the action which will be simulcast on the OVC Digital Network, the league’s free digital online platform. In addition the OVC Digital Network will carry road OVC games at Southeast Missouri (Oct. 1), Tennessee Tech (Oct. 15), Jacksonville State (Oct. 29) and Eastern Kentucky (Nov. 19).
Already announced this season are road games to be televised at Miami of Ohio (on ESPN3) and Illinois State (on Comcast SportsNet Chicago). With the combination of the WEIU TV Package and the OVC Digital Network, all 11 EIU football games this season will be broadcast for Panther fans to watch.
The Panthers will return on the air waves with the Panther Radio Network. All games home and away can be heard this season on Hit Mix 88.9 WEIU FM (Coles County), WSVZ 98.3 FM (Shelbyville / Effingham), WMKR 94.3 FM (Taylorville) and WHOW 1520 AM (Clinton / Decatur / Springfield). Broadcasts begin with a 30-minute pregame show.

Tickets for the Panthers road games at Miami of Ohio and Illinois State are available now and can be purchased by calling the EIU ticket office directly.
EIU Athletics and WEIU TV will also carry a select number of home Panther basketball games this season with that schedule be announced in the fall.
