EHS Unbeaten, Downs Mattoon

The Effingham High School junior varsity football team improved its record to 6-0 with a 30-18 victory over Mattoon Monday evening.
The defense and special teams forced six turnovers, three interceptions, two by Dylan Wolfe and Jeff Beasley, and three fumble recoveries, one for a touchdown by Wyatt Kahley. The offense used a balanced attack with 150 yards through the air, scoring two touchdowns and 196 via the ground and two touchdowns.
Kevin Daugherty continued his solid play with 11 of 22 passing for 150 yards and another 55 yards on the ground on 19 carries. On the second play of the game he connected with Trent Barnhart on a 46 yard play for one touchdown and another touchdown pass for three yards to Zach Miller. Avery Brooks and Barnhart found the end zone on the ground with runs of five yards and one yard.
Effingham returns to action next Monday in Mount Zion.
