The Denver Broncos say quarterback Peyton Manning has yet to make a decision on whether he will retire and plans to continue talks with the team about his future this coming week.

Broncos vice president of public relations Patrick Smyth tweeted the update Saturday night. Earlier Saturday, a column in the Denver Post, which initially cited two unnamed sources, stated that Manning had decided to retire and would acknowledge the decision by the end of the week.

As recently as Thursday, Broncos executive vice president of football operations/general manager John Elway had said that Manning had yet to make a decision about retiring. The two had met for two hours at Elway's house on Tuesday.

Elway is expected to meet with Manning again after the NFL combine, which concludes Monday.

Manning has a scheduled speaking engagement in Jacksonville, Florida, on Wednesday.

Manning missed seven starts this past season because of a tear in the plantar fascia near his left heel. He will turn 40 on March 24.

Colts' Hasselbeck To Become Free Agent

The Indianapolis Colts have told quarterback Matt Hasselbeck that he does not figure into their plans for next year, and he will become a free agent, according to an ESPN source and an NFL Media report.

According to the report, the Colts are planning for Josh Freeman to back up Andrew Luck next season.

Hasselbeck was one the NFL's best stories last season. The 40-year-old quarterback kept the Colts in the AFC South race by winning his first four starts in place of the injured Luck.

But then Hasselbeck's body began breaking down. Starting with the Week 13 game at Pittsburgh, he briefly left three straight games with injuries. His season ended for good when he suffered a right shoulder injury against the Miami Dolphins in Week 16.

Hasselbeck was 156-of-256 passing for 1,690 yards and nine touchdowns while going 5-3 as a starter last season.
