Doug Pederson was officially announced as the new coach of the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday. Pederson, 47, will be introduced at a news conference Tuesday.

The team will interview former Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz for its defensive coordinator position on Tuesday, a league source told ESPN's Adam Caplan.

Schwartz was seen arriving in Philadelphia on Monday. He has also interviewed for the Jacksonville Jaguars' defensive coordinator position, sources told ESPN's Mike DiRocco, confirming multiple reports. The Browns have interest in Schwartz but have received permission from the Tennessee Titans to interview Ray Horton for their defensive coordinator position, a source told ESPN's Paul Kuharsky, confirming an earlier report by NFL Network.

Pederson will replace Chip Kelly, who was fired Dec. 29, five days before the Eagles' final regular-season game.

Panther's Allen Out With Injury

The Carolina Panthers will likely be without defensive end Jared Allen for Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the Arizona Cardinals.

The NFL's active career sack leader, with 136, will be listed as doubtful after suffering a fractured foot in the fourth quarter of the Panthers' divisional playoff win Sunday over the Seattle Seahawks.

Coach Ron Rivera said Monday after Allen underwent an MRI that the injury is not as serious as the one suffered last year by defensive tackle Star Lotulelei, who underwent surgery a few days after fracturing his foot in practice and missed Carolina's subsequent playoff loss.

Allen played the final two series against Seattle with his injury.

"For the most part, it's going to be a day-by-day [issue], and we'll see how he is by the end of the week," Rivera said. "He will be listed as doubtful. As he reacts to it, hopefully we'll know going forward.

"For right now, we don't expect him to be on the practice field on Wednesday. He's treating it and doing everything he can, and we'll see how he is on Thursday morning."

Eddie Lacy Must Lose Weight

Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy was about as direct as he could be Monday night: Running back Eddie Lacy must lose weight and return next season in far better shape if he hopes to regain the bruising, productive form he showed during his first two NFL seasons.

"Eddie Lacy, he's got a lot of work to do. His offseason last year was not good enough, and he never recovered from it," McCarthy said during his season-ending news conference two days after his team's 26-20 overtime loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday in the NFC divisional playoffs. "He cannot play at the weight he was at this year."

McCarthy seldom calls players out publicly, but this marked the second time this year that he had done so with Lacy.

He benched Lacy twice during the season, earlier in the year over lack of production and later in the year after Lacy missed curfew the night before the team's Dec. 3 game at Detroit.

After back-to-back 1,100-yard seasons his first two seasons in the league, Lacy carried 187 times for 758 yards (4.1-yard average) and three touchdowns in regular-season play.
