Effingham Wins Fifth-Grade JFL Contest

Effingham picked up one victory against Decatur in Junior Hearts Football League play Saturday.
Effingham won the fifth-grade contest 6-0. The lone touchdown came on a 44 yard pass from Parker Siner to Parker Wolfe. Siner connected on four of 13 passes for 94 yards and rushed three times for 26 yards. Effingham was led in tackles by Tristan Duncan with 13 and Logan Brown with eight.
In the eighth-grade contest, Decatur claimed a 42-14 victory. Both Effingham touchdowns came on pass plays. Grant Wolfe hit 12 of 23 passes for 184 yards. Trevor Kreke pulled in three passes for 70 yards and a touchdown while Lane Koenig caught five passes for 24 yards and a touchdown.
Michael Wolke had 11 carries for 44 yards while Dalton Walk had seven carries for 40 yards. Wolke led in touchdowns with three.
In seventh-grade competition, Decatur edged the Junior Hearts 36-34. Mitchell Stevenson hit six of 11 passes for 80 yards and a touchdown. Lucas Vasquez connected on two of two passes for 56 yards and a touchdown. Chase Maroon pulled in five passes for 127 yards and two touchdowns. Terrence Hill led the Junior Hearts with 14 carries for 223 yards and three touchdowns. Braden Hasty had two extra point carries.
Hill led the squad in tackles with eight.
Effingham suffered a 34-14 loss in sixth-grade action. Landon Wolfe connected on two of seven passes for 49 yards and a touchdown. Zach Lee pulled in two passes for 49 yards and a touchdown. Lane Reynolds had 18 carries for 105 yards, a touchdown and an extra point.
Layn Reynolds led in tackles with three.
