Hearts Nab F/S Football Win Over Salem

SALEM -- Effingham High School scored all 14 points in the second quarter and held off a final quarter challenge by Salem for a freshman/sophomore football victory Monday evening, 14-6.
The Hearts were led offensively by Tyler Marschewski with nine carries for 18 yards and Kendall Ballman with 17 carries for 58 yards.
Landon Wolfe connected on seven of 15 passes for 133 yards. Jacob Miller had four catches for 98 yards, Kaleb Kihne two catches for 29 yards, Dylan Bushur one catch for 35 yards and Zack Lee one catch for six yards.
Leading defensively were Hayden Diveley with 7 1/2 tackles and three sacks, Tyler McGregor with 5 1/2 tackles and one sack and Lucas Vasquez with 3 1/2 tackles and one sack.
The freshman squad will be back in action Thursday hosting Taylorville while the junior varsity will face Taylorville October 5.
