EHS Freshmen Claim Football Win

Effingham High School played host to Charleston in freshman football action Thursday.

Effingham High School's freshman football squad scored an opening quarter touchdown then tallied two more in the second quarter for a 20-14 win over Charleston Thursday evening.

Charleston tallied two scores in the second period but couldn't make up that opening quarter score by the Hearts.

Tyler Marschewski had four carries for 71 yards and a touchdown for the Hearts. Kendall Ballman had 15 carries for 76 yards. Gage Franklin carried six times for 23 yards and a touchdown.

Landon Wolfe connected on six of 15 passes for 92 yards and a touchdown. Dylan Bushur was his target on three catches for 44 yards and a touchdown. Kaleb Kihne had one catch for 19 yards and Zach Lee had one catch for 12 yards.

Leading in tackles were Andrew Perry with 8 1/2, Matthew Hites with 8 1/2 and three sacks, Jason Bowlin with six, Andy Nashed with three and Kihne with three.

The freshmen are back in action next Thursday at Salem.
