Sept. 15 JFL Results

Effingham picked up a Junior Hearts Football League victory in seventh-grade play Saturday against Taylorville but suffered losses in fifth and eighth grades. No sixth-grade results were turned in.

In seventh-grade play, Effingham claimed a 20-16 victory. Lane Koenig pulled in four passes for 57 yards and scored two touchdowns. Terrence Hill had 10 carries for 135 yards rushing and scored two touchdowns and an extra point. Jordan McCabe had two carries for nine yards and a touchdown.

Matt Robinson led the team defensively with 9 1/2 tackles and Chaes Maroon had nine.

In eighth-grade play, Taylorville picked up a 26-20 victory. Grant Wolfe connected on 24 of 34 passes for 225 yards. He also carried the ball nine times for 34 yards, a touchdown and an extra point. Lane Koenig pulled in four passes for 57 yards and two touchdowns.

Micahel Wolke had five tackles.

In fifth-grade play, Taylorville was a 38-6 winner. Dawson Whitten connected on four passes for 87 yards and a touchdown. Nathan Shackelford caught two passes for a yard and a touchdown.

Logan Brown led the squad in tackles with six.
