Effingham got the best of Breese Mater Dei in a junior varsity football contest at Klosterman Field Monday evening.
The Hearts were solid on both offense and defense in a total team win.

"Kevin Daugherty was very good under center completing 13 of 22 to six different receivers for 192 yards and three touchdowns and no interceptions," said EHS Coach Mike Walker. "He also rushed for 55 yards on nine carries. Noah Hagen led the defensive side of the ball with eight tackles and one interception."

Effingham is now 1-0 and plays at home against Centralia September 9.
