Illinois Gets Past Minnesota

(Champaign, IL) -- V'Angelo Bentley returned a fumble 12 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter to lift Illinois in a 28-24 win over Minnesota on Saturday. Reilly O'Toole threw or 118 yards and a TD as the Fighting Illini earned their first Big Ten win. Illinois plays at Ohio State this Saturday.

In other college football action from Saturday, Northern Illinois ran to a 28-17 win over Eastern Michigan. Northwestern had the weekend off but travels to Iowa this coming Saturday. Notre Dame was also off but will square off with Navy at FedEx Field this Saturday.

 

EIU 28, Tennesse State 3

Anthony Goodman turned the tide with 2:35 to play in the third quarter as he picked off a pass and raced 46 yards for a touchdown to put Eastern Illinois University up 14-3. The Panthers tacked on two fourth quarter rushing touchdowns as they beat Tennessee State, 28-3 on Saturday afternoon during the EIU homecoming game at O'Brien Field.

With the win, EIU improved to 3-5 on the season, 3-1 in the Ohio Valley Conference. Tennessee State dropped its fourth straight game, falling to 4-5 overall, 1-4 in the OVC. The Panthers will play at Tennessee Tech Saturday with a 1:30 p.m. start
