Hearts Freshmen Win at Charleston

The Effingham Hearts defeated the Charleston Trojans 7-0 in freshman football action Thursday in Charleston.

Effingham scored the only points of the game on a touchdown in the third quarter, when Marcus Pocrnich ran for 70 yards for the score.

The Hearts rushed the ball well, with Kyle Phillips leading the way, gaining 71 yards on four carries. Lucas Vasquez picked up 27 yards on 16 carries. The Pocrnich touchdown run was his only carry of the game. Vasquez kicked the extra point.

On defense, Frank Schneiderjon had six solo tackles and five assists, Noah Spencer had five solo tackles and four assists with one quarterback sack,  and Jarrett Jones had a solo tackle and four assists along with a quarterback sack.

Jordan McCabe and Cody Line each claimed an interception for the freshman Hearts.
