Rams Fall To Dolphins

(Miami, FL) -- The Rams preseason came to a conclusion with a 14-13 loss to the Dolphins at Sun Life Stadium. Michael Sam made six tackles, five of which were solo as he fights for a spot on the 53-man roster. St. Louis finished the preseason 1-3. The Rams open the regular season a week from Sunday at home against the Vikings.

Michael Sam will soon find out if his NFL dream is a reality. The rookie defensive end is trying to become the first openly gay player to make an NFL roster. Teams must trim down from 75 players to the final 53-man roster by Saturday. Sam was drafted out of Missouri back in May.

Bears Blasted By Browns

(Cleveland, OH) -- David Fales tossed for 146 yards, one touchdown and an interception as the Bears lost 33-13 to the Browns in their preseason finale.  Santonio Holmes hauled in the TD as Chicago closed the preseason 2-2. The regular season starts September 7 against the Bills.

Peyton Manning Fined For Taunting

(Denver, CO) -- Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning is being hit with a fine by the NFL for taunting. ESPN reports the league is docking the 13-time Pro Bowler more than $8,200 for getting in the face of Houston Texans safety D.J. Swearinger following a 29-yard touchdown pass Saturday. It was the first time in Manning's 16-year playing career that he has been flagged for taunting. Previous to the touchdown strike, Swearinger delivered a blow to the helmet of Broncos receiver Wes Welker that resulted in a concussion. Manning told reporters after the game he didn't feel the penalty hurt the team, and more recently that the fine was "money well spent."
