Bears Reinstate Tight End Bennett, Rams Back At Work

(Bourbonnais, IL) -- Tight end Martellus Bennett is back with the Chicago Bears. His suspension was lifted by the team after five days. He was fined and out of action due to an altercation with cornerback Kyle Fuller. Bennett missed two practice sessions and Friday's preseason opener. Meanwhile, the Bears battle the Jaguars Thursday.

Bears offensive lineman Brian de la Puente will be out a few weeks. He suffered a Grade 2 MCL sprain on Friday in the preseason opener. He says his ACL is fine after an MRI.


Rams Back To Work

(The Rams are back to work today with their first practice since dropping the preseason opener 26-24 against the New Orleans Saints. Practice starts at 3:30 p.m. They will also practice Tuesday and Thursday before the second preseason game against the Packers Saturday.


First Openly Gay Player Makes NFL Debut

(St. Louis, MO) -- Michael Sam is the first openly gay player to take snaps in the NFL. He entered the game Friday night for St. Louis at defensive end with about five minutes to play in the first quarter. Sam registered one tackle and a QB hit in St. Louis' 26-24 loss to the New Orleans Saints. Sam was drafted by the Rams out of Missouri in the seventh round of this year's NFL Draft. He is still trying to make the 53-man roster.
