Bears Sign Hixon
(Chicago, IL) -- Domenik Hixon signed a one-year contract with the Bears to provide depth at the receiver position and compete for a special teams return position. Hixon enters his ninth season in the NFL with Chicago being his fourth team. Hixon caught only seven passes for 55 yards and a score last season in Carolina but had success with the Giants, catching 102 passes for more than 1,400 yards and six touchdowns in his five years there.
The Bears agreed to terms with former Detroit Lions defensive end Willie Young on a three-year deal. Young is guaranteed four of his $9-million contract. Young was drafted out of NC State by the Lions and last season turned in a three sack, 47 tackle season while recovering two fumbles.
Saffold Returns To Rams
(St. Louis, MO) -- Free agent offensive lineman Rodger Saffold is back with the Rams. After failing a physical earlier this week with Oakland, the four-year vet re-signed a five-year contract with St. Louis. Saffold has started 44 games at three different positions since being drafted by the Rams in 2010.
Clemens Signs With Chargers
(San Diego, CA) -- Former Rams quarterback Kellen Clemens is now with the Chargers. The 30-year-old has signed a two-year deal with San Diego to back up Philip Rivers. Clemens spent the last three years behind Sam Bradford in St. Louis. He made nine starts last year after Bradford was lost to injury.
