Bears Ink Jennings

(Lake Forest, IL) -- Former Green Bay Packers safety M. D. Jennings agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Chicago Bears. Jennings, 25, recorded 74 tackles last season in all 16 games for Green Bay, but failed to produce a turnover. The signing of Jennings gives the Bears some depth in the secondary.  Jennings was undrafted out of Arkansas State in 2011 and has 133 tackles and a pick six on his resume.

 

McCown To Buccaneers

(Tampa Bay, FL) -- Former Bears quarterback Josh McCown has signed a two-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers worth $10-million. McCown is guaranteed $4.5 million in the contract with an extra $5-million available in incentives. McCown played a big role for Chicago last season winning three games in the absence of Jay Cutler. Bucs coach Lovie Smith said McCown will compete for the starting job.

 

Saffold Returning To Rams

Offensive tackle Rodger Saffold is reportedly heading back to St. Louis. ESPN reports Saffold will sign a five-year contract with the Rams following a disagreement with his physical condition in Oakland. The Raiders, who reportedly agreed to a five-year, $42.5-million contract with Saffold Tuesday, are worried about his shoulder. The Rams, however, have no concerns with his shoulder.

The Rams are looking to fill a hole on their offensive line. Guard Chris Williams agreed to a four-year free-agent contract with the Bills. Williams was the Rams' only offensive lineman to start all 16 games last season.

 

Patriots Agree With Revis Hours After His Release From Tampa

(Foxboro, MA)  --  Darrelle Reviswasn't on the free agent market long.  Just hours after being released yesterday by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, ESPN reports Revis has agreed to a one-year, 12-million-dollar contract with the New England Patriots.  The deal is pending a physical.  He has 21 picks and 109 passes defensed in 95 career games with the Jets and Bucs.

 

Jets Sign Wide Receiver Eric Decker

(Florham Park, NY) -- The New York Jets offense is getting a boost. The team announced late Wednesday night they agreed to terms wide receiver Eric Decker.  ESPN is reporting the contract is for five years and worth just north of $36-million, with $15-million guaranteed. Decker spent the first four years of his career with the Broncos.

 

Arizona Indicts Former NFL Player Sharper For Sex Assault

(Tempe, AZ) -- Former NFL star Darren Sharper is being indicted in Arizona on sexual assault and drug charges. Sharper is already jailed in California where he's accused of drugging four Los Angeles women and raping two of them. Sharper also faces similar accusations in Louisiana and he's been the subject of sex crimes investigations in Florida and Nevada.
