Keller Finishes Second, Denning Eighth At Class 1A Cross Country State Meet, Area Runners Results

PEORIA -- Area runners competed in the Class 1A and Class 2A State Cross Country Meets Saturday at Detweiller Park in Peoria.

Effingham St. Anthony's Isabella Keller claimed second at the Class 1A State Meet. Keller finished with a time of 16:27.90. Teammate Aubrey Denning also captured a medal, finishing eighth with a time of 17:18.3.

Winning the girls state meet was Tuscola's Kate Foltz with a time of 15:59.40.

St. Anthony finished 16th out of 30 teams with 455 points. Winning the meet was Williamsville with 171 points. Shelbyville took eighth with 294.

Other Bulldog runners competing were Emaline Wines 158th in 20:21.8, Nancy Ruholl 211th in 21:35.1, Leah Delrossi 223rd in 22:12.9, Camille Wines 240th in 23:43.4 and Ava Faber 248th in 25:14.0.

Newton's Layna Marshall was 137th in 19:58.6.

In the Class 2A State Girls Meet, Effingham's Jessica Larsen finished 115th out of 243 runners with a time of 19:20.06. Winning the individual championship was Sundara Weber of Sandwich with a time of 16:11.27.

In the Class 1A boys meet, Cumberland competed as a team and finished 23rd out of 30 teams. Cameron Roedl claimed 67tth place out of 258 runners with a time of 15:51.45. Also competing for the Pirates were Gavin Whitaker 170th in 16:47.73, Kaleb Bierman 173rd in 16:49.96, Riley Morgan 177th in 16:54.21, Brett Matusas 178th in 16:54.59, Gavin Ray 182nd in 16:57.62 and Kade Bradley 232nd in 17:50.76.

Effingham St. Anthony's Julius Ramos finished 64th in 15:49.69.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City's August Cosart was 79th in 15:57.82.

Winning the team championship was Niles Northridge Prep with 126 points. Gillespie's Chaz Oberkfell won the individual championship with a time of 14:31.87.
