EHS Girls Third At Apollo C.C. Meet, Olney Wins LIC Meets

Mahomet-Seymour won the meet with 38 points followed by Mount Zion 59, Effingham 62, Mattoon 92, Taylorville 118 and Charleston 142.
Mount Zion's Avery Sommer won the race with a time of 18;06.
Effingham's top finisher was Emery Spicer sixth in 19:05.7. Also scoring for the Hearts were Jessica Larsen eighth in 19:16.9, Baylee Summers 10th in 19:32.6, Morgan Springer 13th in 20:30.2 and Laney Myers 29th in 21:22.6. Also competing for the Hearts was Alaina Miller 33rd in 22:08.8.
In the boys meet, Mahomet-Seymour won with 26 points followed by Mount Zion 61, Taylorville 63, Charleston 78 and Mattoon 141. Effingham did not have enough runners for a team score.
Mahomet-Seymour's Augustus Gaudio won the meet with a time of 15:02.1.
Effingham's top finisher was Alex Gordon eighth in 15:51.4. Also competing for the Hearts were TJ Raddatz 44th in 18:05.7, Ino Mapes 45th in 18:06.3 and Aaron Hill 56th in 19:11.4.
At Terre Haute, Ind.
Newton High School captured second place for the boys race and finished fourth for the girls in the Little illini Conference Championships Tuesday.
Olney Richland County won the boys meet just edging Newton 23-24. Following was Paris with 31. Marshall, Robinson and Casey-Westfield had runners but not enough for a team score.
Olney's Quaid Berger won the meet with a time of 15:26.28.
Scoring for Newton were Jackson Sornberger eighth in 17:01.50, Isaac Street 14th in 17:49.94, Tanner Whitaker 17th in 17:57.87, Johnnie Brant 22nd in 18:54.29 and Hodlen Barthlemy 23rd in 18:56.4. Also competing were Alec Bower 25th in 19:15.17, Wade Ochs 26th in 19:21.88 and Levi Salyers 37th in 20:41.04.
Olney Richland County also claimed the girls championship with 38 points followed by Marshall 45, Robinson 62, Newton 82 and Mount Carmel 132.
Marshall's Molly Farrell was first with a time of 18:52.35.
Newton's Layna Marshall finished fourth in 19:36.44. Also scoring for the Eagles were Shay Bennett 23rd in 22:53.15, Lily Yager 24th in 23:04.05, Avery Geier 25th in 23:30.48 and Diana Rivera De Miguel 27th in 24:35.20.
Also competing for tthe Eagles were Kate Bierman 31st in 25:14.85, Leila Tsunekawa 35th in 26:27.65 and Natalie Kistner 36th in 26:39.54.
