EHS Girls Fourth At Olney Invitational, Area Teams Competed

OLNEY -- The Effingham High School girls cross country team finished fourth at the Olney Invitational Saturday at Olney Central College.

 

Carterville won the girls meet with 84 points followed by Fairfield 99, Troy Triad 108, Effingham 120, Richland County 140, Champaign Central 166, Mattoon 190, Centralia 215, Newton 231, Robinson 242, Herrin 266, Salem 298, Marion 302, Dieterich 327 and Teutopolis 393.

Carterville's Molly Robertson won with a time of 18:48.17.

Effingham's top runner was Emery Spicer ninth in 20:13.64. Also scoring for the Hearts were Jessica Larsen 17th in 21:18.07, Morgan Springer 29th in 21:54.72, Baylee Summers 31st in 21:56.17 and Alaina Miller 44th in 23:17.54. Laney Myers finished in 65th in 24:46.52

Newton runners were 13. Layna Marshall, 20:55.62; 52. Avery Geier, 23:44.83; 57. Shay Bennett, 23:59.14; 64. Lily Yager, 24:40.54; 75. Diana Rivera De Miguel, 25:15.29; 98. Leila Tsunekawa, 27:13.24

In the boys meet, Troy Triad was the team champion with 70 points followed by Herrin 80, Georgetown Notre Dame de La Salette 84, Richland County 101, Carterville 123, Champaign Central 149, Newton 253, Effingham 253, Salem 284, Robinson 285, Fairfield 288, Dieterich 292, Mattoon 341, North Clay 347, Casey-Westfield 409 and Teutopolis 429.

Troy Triad's Drew Twyman won the meet with a time of 15:56.19.
