Effingham Junior High finished fourth at the Granite City Invitational Friday. Effingham competed against 22 other teams, and the fourth place finish is Effingham's highest ever at the event.
Effingham 7th grader Jared Klingler finished third out of 163 runners and beat his own school record for the third time this season with a 11:18 time. Mustangs Coach Nancy Erwin said the time is the fastest ever by any EJHS runner.
Smith and Overbeck also medaled for Effingham, meaning they finished in the top 30.
