August Cosart of CHBC set a new course record in cross country action at Ballard Nature Center near Altamont Thursday.

The junior ran the course in 15:55. Junior Alex Gordon of Effingham, the previous record holder with a 16:19 in 2023, finished second in 16:13, and sophomore Griffin Vaughn of CHBC was third at 16:13.22.

The team scores saw Charleston just edge CHBC 33 to 34 with Effingham third with 73 points and Teutopolis with 103. 

On the girls side, Effingham won with 17 points to 47 for Charleston and 75 for Teutopolis.
