St. Anthony Girls Team, C'land's Cameron Roedl Headed To 1A State Cross Country Meets

St. Anthony will be competing at the Class 1A State Meet Saturday at Detweiller Park.

DECATUR -- Effingham St. Anthony High School will be represented at the Class 1A State Girls Cross Country Meet after the Bulldogs captured fifth place at the Class 1A Decatur St. Teresa Sectional Saturday.

Tolono Unity won the team championship with 45 points followed by Shelbyville 118, Robinson 161, Champaign St. Thomas More 186, St. Anthony 190 and Clinton 198. The top six teams advance along with the top 10 individuals not members of those teams.

The top six were followed by Marshall 200, Fairfield 203, Urbana University 213, Monticello 226,  Paxton-Buckley-Loda 282, Decatur St. Teresa 317, Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin 357, Tuscola 376, Newton 391, Litchfield 402, Fithian Oakwood 414, Neoga 447, Dieterich 510 and Teutopolis 540.

St. Anthony's Isabella Keller was the individual champion with a time of 17:10.88. Audrey Denning finished 14th in 19:34.06, Stacie Vonderheide 19th in 19:58.90, Emma Helmink 62nd in 21:25.92, Grace Niebrugge 125th in 24:48.45 and Ava Faber 134th in 25:38.70.

Newton's top finisher was Layna Marshall 31st in 20:25.22. Neoga's Libby McGinnis took 82nd in 22:28.61. Dieterich's Adriana Gordon finished 98th in 22:59.43. T-town's Pearl Huber was 105th in 23:12.64.

Krista Hall represented Altamont and finished 94th in 22:53.16.

Advancing as individuals were Molly Farrell (Marshall) second in 17:27.72, Kate Foltz (Tuscola) fourth in 17:36.87, Madeline Fox (Marshall) seventh in 18:42.96, Savanna Franzen (St. Joseph-Ogden) 11th in 19:25.04, Macie Russell (Fithian Oakwood) 13th in 19:28.83, Addison Eades (Decatur St. Teresa) 16th in 19:46.55, Kayla Clark (Casey-Westfield) 17th in 19:49.60, Ella Sager (Fairfield) 21st in 20:07.15, Aleah Potter (Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin) 23rd in 20:09.03 and Chloe Burkhalter (St. Joseph-Ogden) 24th in 20:11.79.

In the boys meet, advancing as teams were Tuscola with 74 points followed by St. Joseph-Ogden 89, Georgetown Notre Dame de La Salette 137, Clinton 197, Tolono Unity 208 and Decatur St. Teresa 215. Other teams competing were Cerro Gordo-Bement 244, Urbana University 245, Robinson 265, Newton 274, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 302, Cumberland 316, Fairfield 327, Broadlands Heritage 351, Shelbyville 360, Webber Township (Bluford) 372, Paris 409, Carlinville 459, Villa Grove 473, Champaign St. Thomas More 485 and Dieterich 486.

The top six teams advance along with the top 10 runners not members of those teams.

Cumberland's Cameron Roedl finished 12th with a time of 16:07.09 and will advance as an individual.
