Area Cross Country Runners Compete Saturday In Sectionals

Effingham St. Anthony, Newton, Neoga, Dieterich and Teutopolis will be sending girls teams to the Class 1A Decatur St. Teresa Sectional while Altamont's Krista Hall will be competing.

For the boys at the Decatur St. Teresa Sectional, teams from the area will be Newton, Cumberland, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and Dieterich. Teutopolis will send James Hughey and Nicholas Waldhoff.

Only the top six teams and the top 10 runners not members of those teams from sectionals, will earn the right to compete at the Class 1A State Meet at Detweiller Park in Peoria November 4.

In Class 2A, the Effingham girls team will compete while for the EHS boys, Alex Gordon and Adam Flack will be running.

Only the top seven teams and the top 10 runners not members of those teams from sectionals will earn the right to compete at the Class 2A State Meet at Detweiller Park in Peoria November 4.

If area runners earn the right to compete at State, the Class 1A girls meet will be held at 9 a.m. while the Class 1A boys meet will take place at 10 a.m. The Class 2A girls meet is at 11 a.m. and the Class 2A boys meet at noon.
