Bulldogs Win Girls NTC C.C. Title, Bobcats Take Boys Meet

Effingham St. Anthony won the girls championship at the National Trail Conference Cross Country Meet.

Effingham St. Anthony was the champion in the National Trail Conference Girls Cross Country Meet Tuesday at Community Park while Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City claimed the boys title.

The Bulldogs won the girls meet with 27 points followed by Neoga 45 and Dieterich 50. North Clay (Louisville) also had runners competing but not enough for a team score.

St. Anthony's Aubrey Denning won the meet with a time of 19:28.83 followed by Stacie Vonderheide second in 20:19 and Emma Helmink third in 21:08. Also scoring for the Bulldogs were Ava Faber 12th in 24:22 and Grace Niebrugge 15th in 25:25.

North Clay's Brooke Koelm finished fourth in 21:57 and Dieterich's Adriana Gordon rounded out the top five in 22:09.

In the boys meet, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City was the team champion with 32 points followed by St. Anthony 38,  Dieterich 72, North Clay 96 and Altamont 121.

CHBC's August Cosart won the meet in 16:36. Also scoring for the Bobcats were Griffin Vaughn fifth in 17:54, Aiden Wallace sixth in 17:58, Porter Lilly eighth in 18:31 and Hayden Sarver 12th in 19:03.

St. Anthony's Aidan Braunecker was second in 17:19 while Julius Ramos took third in 17:34. North Clay's Zane Groves finished fourth in 17:46.
