Effingham Junior High School captured first place at the Robinson Nuttall Junior High Cross Country Meet.

ROBINSON -- The Effingham Junior High School boys walked away with first place out of 16 teams at the Robinson Nuttall Middle School Cross Country Invitational Thursday.

Eighth-grader TJ Raddatz finished seventh out of 204 runners with a career best of 11:56.5. Eighth-grader Carson Fox also ran a career best of 12:11.2, placing 11th. Both boys were awarded medals.

In 16th place was sixth-grader Jared Klingler, 24th place for seventh-grader Mason Overbeck, 28th place for eighth-grader Alex McFarland with a career best time of 12:44.9, 33rd place for seventh-grader Tristen Smith with a career best of 13:00.7 and 42nd place for sixth-grader Maddux Wyckoff to round out the top seven for the Mustangs.

Effingham tallied 86 points followed by St. Joseph 123, Robinson 125, St. Anthony 129 , Olney 137, Cumberland 158, Teutopolis 193, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 216, Casey-Westfield 222, Dieterich 230, Newton 233, Paris 274, Mattoon 305, St. John 352, Altamont Lutheran 402 and Mount Carmel 432.

St. Anthony runners were Camden Bloemer fourth in 11:44, Blake Verdeyen 21st in 12:33, Max Schuette 26th in 12:38, Mike Fearday 29th in 12:45, Grayson Bloemer 49th in 13;25, Braxton Schultz 52nd in 13:29, James Uebinger 69th in 13:41, Mason Storm 76th in 13:47, Graham Miller 121st in 14:46, Ben Sudkamp 122nd in 14:46, Marty Scheidemantel 132nd in 15:06 Jackson Settle 145th in 15:27 and Jacob Thoele 147th in 15:28.

There were 207 runners competing in the boys meet.

The Effingham girls finished the meet in fourth place led by eighth-grader Emery Spicer placing first out of 129 runners. She beat the next closest runner by almost 30 seconds. Eighth-grader Alaina Miller finished seventh with a career best of 13:33.9. Seventh-grader Laynee Pankau took 29th while seventh-grader Bailee Kruger finished 36th, sixth-grader Kloey Bierman placed 40th, seventh-grader Aleece Lotz was 42nd and sixth-grader Kenley Moore took 48th to round out the top seven.

Spicer and Miller both won medals.

St. Anthony's Nora Niebrugge finished fourth in 13:24 while Bella Schultz was fifth in 13:27. Also competing were Emeline Wines 12th in 14:00, Hannah Frisbie 24th in 15:00, Amelia Janis 33rd in 15:24, Paylin Wilhour 37th in 15:32 and Tayor Denning 69th in 16:39. There were 129 runners competing.

Effingham's Emery Spicer finished first and Alaina Miller was seventh.

TJ Raddatz was seventh and Carson Fox finished 11th to win medals.
