GRANITE CITY -- Effingham Junior High School competed in the Granite City Coolidge Cross Country Invitational Friday.

Eighth-grader Emery Spicer led the girls with a third place finish out of 149 runners and eighth-grader Alaina Miller finished 29th.

The girls team finished in 11th place out of 21 teams.

The boys were led by eighth-grader Alex McFarland who placeed 52nd and seventh-grader Mason Overbeck who finished in 53rd place out of 163 runners. The boys team finished in 12th place.

Leading for the open races was seventh-grader Aleece Lotz in 43rd place for the girls team and seventh-grader Joel Flack in 50th place for the boys team.

The girls placed 10th in the open and the boys placed 11th.

The two Effingham Junior High girls medal winners were Emery Spicer and Alaina Miller.
