Notre Dame Women, Men Headed to NCAA Championships Today

SOUTH BEND, IND. -- Both the women and the men's cross country teams from Notre Dame are heading to the NCAA Championships today hosedt by Stillwater, Oklahoma.

The women's team won the Great Lakes Regional held in Terre Haute, Ind. while the men's squad took second place.

The women's squad finished with 34 points  to far outdistance the field. Second was Ohio State with 111 points.

Notre Dame's Olivia Markezich won the regional with a time of 19:54.0. Siona Chisholm took fourth in 20:06.9,  Maddy Denner sixth in 20:13.3, Katie Thronson 10th in 20:16.9, Erin Strzelecki 12th in 20:17.2, Effingham's Anna Sophia Keller 18th in 20:21.1 and Katie Rose Blachowicz 55th in 21:19.6.

Markezich, Chishom, Denner, Thronson, Strzelecki and Keller garnered All-Region honors.

On the men's side, Carter Solomon and Izaiah Steury were fifth and sixth with times of 29:55.8 and 30:02.5. Jake Renfree finished 15th in 30:17.4, Matthew Carmody took 17th in 30:20.5, Joshua  Methner 18th in 30:23.3, Carter Cheeseman 23rd in 30:31.7 and Quinn Gallagher in 29th in 30:43.4.

The women and men's teams advanced to the NCAA Championships today in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
