Newton Wins Robinson Cross Country Invite

Newton won with 45 points followed by Robinson 114, Mattoon 118, Effingham 123, Marshall 157, Fairfield 165, Glen Carbon Father McGivney 171, Effingham St. Anthony 173, Cumberland 232, Carmi-White County 234, Charleston 281, Altamont 292, Teutopolis 340, Dieterich 341, Paris 357 and Grayville 485.

Brock Davee of Mattoon was the individual winner with a time of 15:49.8.

Nick Zwilling was the top runner for the Eagles, finishing third with a time of 16:09.1. Also scoring for Newton were Clay Bergbower seventh in 16:59.1, Luke Weber 11th in 17:08.2, Nick Shamhart 14th in 17:20.4 and  Luis Zavala 15th in 17:28.0

Effingham's top runner was Andrew Donaldson fifth in 16:41.8. St. Anthony's top finisher was Griffen Elder sixth in 16:42.8.

Cumberland's Wiley Peters was 20th in 17:42.2. Altamont's Hayden Summers took 25th in 18:08.4

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City's top finisher was Aiden Wallace 34th in 18:33.2. Dieterich's Jack Bloemer finished 38th in 18:40.2. T-town's Devin Probst was 62nd in 19:49.8.

In the girls meet, Tolono Unity won with 49 points followed by Glen Carbon Father McGivney 91, Marshall 96, Robinson 99, Newton 111, Effingham 113 Charleston 196, Fairfield 237, Effingham St. Anthony 239 and Neoga 247.

Glen Carbon's Elena Rybak won with a time of 17:59.7.

Newton's Rylea Borgic took fourth in 18:46.5. Effingham's Jessica Larson was ninth in 19:37.7.

Altamont's Grace Nelson finished 13th in 20:23.1. T-town's Olivia Copple was 20th in 20:58.9. St. Anthony's Emma Helmink took 31st in 21:38.8. Neoga's Ani Edwards was 46th in 22:21.2.
