Newton, T-town Split Cross Country Wins

NEWTON -- Newton claimed a high school boys cross country win over Teuotpolis and North Clay (Louisville) Thursday. The Eagles scored 23 while T-town had 32. North Clay had only one runner.

The Eagles' Luke Weber won the meet with a time of 16:12. Also scoring for Newton were Clay Bergbower second in 16:39, Ben Street third in 16:49, Brock Probst seventh in 18:14 and Carter Reich 10th in 19:30.

T-town's top finisher was Matthew Deters fourth in 16:59.

In the girls meet, T-town was the winner, 23-32 over Newton. North Clay had only two runners.

Newton's Riley Borgic won the meet with a time of 18;44. Scoring for T-town were Jessica Runde second in 19:17, Kaitlyn Schumacher fourth in 21:34, Olivia Copple fifth in 21:39 and Kaitlyn Vahling seventh in 22:00.

North Clay's McKenna Carter was third in 20:58.
