Local Teams, Individual Advance to 2019 State Junior High Meet

Local teams and individuals advanced Saturday to the State Junior High Cross Country Meets.

St. Anthony/Sacred Heart won the Girls 1A Sectional at Findlay. Meanwhile, St. Anthony/Sacred Heart finished second in the Boys 1A Sectional. Both squads will advance to the state meet this Saturday at Maxwell Park in Normal.

Girls' squad members are 6th grader Jada Carpenter, 7th grader Ava Faber, 8th grader Emma Helmink, 7th grader Taylor Miller, 8th grader Grace Niebrugge, 7th grader Mia Schwing, 8th grader Alivia Soltwedel, and 6th grader Veronica Sudkamp.

Boys' squad members are 8th grader Aidan Braunecker, 6th grader Luis Canales Gonzalez, 7th grader Noah Flaig, 8th grader Elliot Frisbie, 6th grader Keenan Griffith, 8th grader Drew Hanfland, 8th grader Louis Jansen, 7th grader Samuel Link, 7th grader Ryan Schmidt, and 7th grader Vincent Vogel. 

No teams advanced to State in the 2A sectionals, but Luke Weber of Jasper County was the individual winner at the Shelbyville Sectional with a time of 11:37, so will advance.

There were no 3A state qualifiers.
