EHS Girls Team Advances to Sectionals

DANVILLE -- Effingham High School advanced as a team in the Class 2A Danville Cross Country Girls Regional Saturday.
Mount Zion won the regional with 24 points followed by Urbana 62, Mattoon 82, Charelston 108, Effingham 127, Olney 142, Champaign Centennial 165 and Danville 204. The top seven teams and top five runners not members of qualifying teams, advance to sectional action.
Winning the individual title was Chian Scott of Urbana with a time of 18:40.21. Mount Zion took the next four spots.
Effingham's Miranda Fox finished 16th with a time of 20:57.06. Also scoring for the Hearts were Kiley Weaver 21st in 21:02, Daelyn Dunston 22nd in 21:08.94, Nicole Schneiderjon 34th in 22:28 and Hope Monnet 44th in 23:46. Non-counting scores were Madison Tilford 47th in 24:34 and Becca Webster 52nd in 25:18.
In the boys meet, Mount Zion won with 43 points followed by Olney 76, Danville 77, Champaign Centennial 86, Urbana 101, Charleston 120, Mattoon 189, Decatur MacArthur 243, Decatur Eisenhower 270 and Effingham 288.
Winning the individual title was Austin Ames of Charleston with a time of 15:44.03.
Finishing for the Hearts were Zeel Patel 53rd in 19:03.31, Dane Seiler 55th in 19:13.50, Andrew Perry 58th in 19:31.09, Clayton Cramsey 60th in 19:44.50, Jon Perry 62nd in 29:16.34, Christian Raddatz 65th in 20:51.91 and Preston Latch 66th in 22:30.28.
The Effingham girls advance to the Decatur MacArthur Sectional this Saturday at the Hickory Point Golf Course. The girls will run at 10 a.m. and the boys at 11 a.m.
