Olympia Wins Boys, Girls St. A Cross Country Meets

Olympia High School captured first place in both the boys and girls Effingham St. Anthony Bulldog Cross Country Challenges Saturday.

Olympia won the boys meet with 31 points followed by Cumberland 89, Charleston 98, St. Anthony 116, Breese Mater Dei 138, Teutopolis 173, Neoga 173, Mattoon 212, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 261, Mount Zion 268, Altamont 336, Dieterich 347, North Clay (Louisville) 371, Effingham 377, East Alton-Wood River 388 and Lincoln 429. Champaign St. Thomas More, Flora, Judah Christian and Okaw Valley had runners but not enough for team scores.

Charleston's Austin Ames claimed first place individually with a time of 14:59.0. Neoga's Reece Johnson was third in 15:30.7, Cumberland's Kort McClellan sixth in 15:36.8 and T-town's Noah Probst finished out the top 10 in 15:59.1.

In the girls meet, Olympia won with 55 points followed by Mount Zion 67, Teutopolis 103, Breese Mater Dei 104, Charleston 176, St. Anthony 184, Mattoon 196, Neoga 199, Cumberland 238, Effingham 239, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 275, Lincoln 283 and Dieterich 310. Altamont, Champaign St. Thomas More, North Clay, East Alton-Wood River, Judah Christian and Okaw Valley did not have enough runners for a team score.

Olympia's Savannah Beavers captured first in 18:06.6. T-town's Morgan Mette was third in 18:37.1. St. Anthony's Sarah Carr took fourth in 18:38.8, Cumberland's Jasmyn Dittamore was fifth in 18:43.7, T-town's Jessica Runde sixth in 18:50 and Neoga's Emmalyn Walk ninth in 19:10.0.
