Area Teams Compete at St. Joe-Ogden Cross Country Meet

ST. JOSEPH -- Area cross country teams competed in the St. Joseph-Ogden Spartan Classic Saturday.

Winning the girls meet was Tolono Unity 62 followed by St. Joseph-Ogden 106, Monticello 126, El Paso Gridley 140, Urbana University 169, Teutopolis 179, Tremont 205, Shelbyville 257, Decatur St. Teresa 259, Seeger 306, Effingham St. Anthony 379, Delavan 383, Tri-Valley 390, Neoga 397, Tuscola 431, Carlinville 434, Maroa-Forsyth 443, Cumberland 450, Paxton-Buckley-Loda 468, Heyworth 496, Dee-Mack 513, Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin 597, Judah Christian 606 and Oakwood 638. Having runners but not enough for a team score were Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, Arthur Lovington/Atwood-Hammond, Chrisman, Liberty and Sullivan.

Monticello's Alyssa McPike was the individual champion with a time of 17:36.19.

In the boys meet, Monticello claimed the title with 78 points followed by El Paso Gridley 88, Urbana University 138, Dee-Mack 211, Tolono Unity 226,  Carlinville 242, St. Anthony 244, Paxton-Buckley-Loda 247, Tuscola 272, Cumberland 288, Tri-Valley 291, Tremont 305, St. Joseph-Ogden 313, Seeger 331, Shelbyville 345, Neoga 416, Heyworth 432, LaSallette 449, Maroa-Forsyth 489, Liberty 523, Delavan 565, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 620, Sullivan 649, Chrisman 653, Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin 661 and Judah Christian 706. Non-counting teams were Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond, Oakwood and Decatur St. Teresa.

Winning the individual title was Monticello's Garrett Dixon in 14:40.30. Neoga's Reece Johnson finished in the top 10 with eighth place in 15:30.63.
