Junior High Cross Country Runners To Compete at State

Area runners will be taking part in the junior high state cross country meets Saturday at Maxwell Park in Normal.

Effingham St. Anthony/Sacred Heart advanced both a boys and a girls team. The Bullpups will be represented in the boys meet by Aidan Braunecker, Giovanni Bucio, Kevin Canalas-Gonzalez, Ivan Dong, Griffen Elder, Drew Hanfland, Max Sager, George Scheidemantel, Conlan Walsh and Nick Wiedman.

Also competing will be the Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City team which includes Jason Baylis, Beau Doetman, Gage Lorton, Daniel Lucas, Zander Merrifield, Bryor Rhodes, Kenny Robbins, Jadan Robertson and Jarrett Thompson.

Competing in the girls meet will be St. Anthony's Abby Dietzen, Anna Faber, Allison Geen, Riley Guy, Emma Hardiek, Grace Niebrugge, Sophia Seagle, Evie Strullmyer and Elie Wegman.

CHBC's Haley Bartels will also be competing.

The Class 1A girls race will be held at 9:30 a.m. followed by the boys race at 10:15 a.m.

Competing in the Class 2A State Meet will be the Jasper County team and Cumberland's Wiley Peters.

Members of the Jasper County team include Clay Bergbower, Ian Fehrenbacher, Isaac Flowers, Owen Mahaffey, Ben Meinhart, Caden Nichols, Brock Probst, Carder Reich, Gage Reynolds and Luke Weber.

 The Class 2A State meets will be held at 11 a.m. for the girls and 11:45 a.m. for the boys.
