Anna Sophia Keller's Win Highlights Cross Country Sectionals

St. Anthony Senior Anna Sophia Keller finished 41 seconds ahead of anybody else in the field at the Class A Girls Cross Country Sectional hosted by St. Anthony. Keller's time of 17:22.87 allows her to advance in state competition. However, she is not the only one as Neoga sophomore Emmalyn Walk's time of 19.35 was good enough for 17th. Kara Weichman, a junior from Teutopolis, was a step behind Walk in 18th with a time of 19:36. Both will also advance to state in Class A Girls competion at Detweiller Park, Peoria on Saturday, November 6.
Advancing teams from the St. Anthony girls sectional were St. Joseph-Ogden, Tolono-Unity, Monticello, Litchfield, St. Thomas More of Champaign and Shelbyville. St. Anthony just missed advancing as a team finishing 7th.
In the Boys Class A Sectional at St. Anthothy, Robinson, St. Joseph-Ogden, Lawrenceville, Carlinville and Champaign St. Thomas More all advance in team competition. Individually Cumberland sophomore Kort McClellan finished 6th with a time of 15:52 and he will be advancing as an individual to state.
Girls AA Sectionals at Decatur saw Waterloo, Urbana, Springfield, Chatham and Mascoutah all advaced to State in team competition. Effingham's Miranda Fox finished 31st missing the cut by just over a minute and Alexis Monnet competed as individual for the Hearts as well, but niether will advance to State.
Boys AA Sectionals at Decatur was won by Marion followed by Danville, Chatham, Springfield and Charleston who all advance to State. Jacob Donaldson ran as individual for Effingham and did not advance but no other information was provided.
