ROBINSON -- Teutopolis, Newton and Cumberland advanced from the Class 1A Robinson Boys Cross Country Regional Saturday.
Robinson won its own regional with 43 points followed by Lawrenceville 80, Marshall 86, Cumberland 146, Teutopolis 169, Newton 190, Hutsonville 217, Paris 235, Mount Carmel 281, Casey-Westfield 282, Dieterich 289, Effingham St. Anthony 290, Greenville 308, Altamont 327 and North Clay (Louisville) 342.
The top seven teams and top five individuals, not members of qualifying teams, advance to sectional action.
Cumberland's Kort McClellan, a sophomore, won the individual championship with a time of 15:38.32. He will advance along with teammates Blake Sutherland 15th in 16:56, Michael Carpenter 30th in 17:50, Zac Heath 48th in 18:59, Jay Stierwalt 52nd in 19:26, Nick Dill 60th in 19:48 and Joel Heynen 84th in 21:42.
Advancing for Teutopolis were Noah Probst 16th in 17:16, Jordan Schumacher 27th in 17:43, Jacob Schmidt 36th in 18:04, Ian Copple 39th in 18;12, Garrett Hartke 51st in 19;22, Evan Blievernicht 57th in 19:40 and Kendall Tabbert 68th in 20:14.
Advancing for Newton were Joe Stone 22nd in 17:34, Victor Sandschafer 33rd in 17:56, Michael Koebele 44th in 18:49, Collin Harris 45th in 18:49, Crayton Chesnut 47th in 18:57 and Faron Bartens 63rd in 20:00.
Altamont's Jesus Flores will advance as an individual. The senior finished 10th in 16:36.
The qualifiers advance to the Class 1A Effingham St. Anthony Sectional Saturday at 11 a.m.
At Carlinville
Advancing as a team from the Class 1A Carlinville Regional was Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City.
Carlinville won it's own regional with 52 points followed by Shelbyville 83, Clinton 105, Decatur St. Teresa 110, Sullivan 121, Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond 150, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 180, Maroa-Forysth 217, Neoga 253, Piasa Southwestern 258, Bement 283, Litchfield 324, Argenta-Oreana 325 and Staunton 329.
Members of the CHBC team are Jarrett Sarver 27th in 17:43, Dylan Taylor 30th in 17:53, Alec Edwards 35th in 18:00, Keegan Martin 43rd in 18:33, Mason Stewart 45th in 18:34, Matt Kelly 46th in 18:36 and Zach Burks 56th in 19:00.
Neoga's Brady Hansen advanced as an individual, finishing 25th in 17:37. Also competing for the Indians but not advancing were Tanner Clark 46th in 18:33.93, Brody Titus 54th in 18:50.78, Blake Ballinger 63rd in 19:09.99, Braden Eaton 77th in 19:47.58, Michael Dietz 80th in 20:02.27 and Ben Althoff 93rd in 21:25.18.
The qualifiers advance to the Effingham St. Anthony Sectional Saturday at 11 a.m.
At Danville
Danville won its own Class 2A regional Satudray with 49 points followed by Mount Zion 86, Mattoon 96, Salem 103, Charleston 117, Urbana 152, Champaign Central 160, Olney 174, Champaign Centennial 202 and Effingham 248.
Mount Zion's Mason Jones won the individual title with a time of 15:40.5.
Effingham's Jacob Donaldson, a senior, advances by finishing as one of the top five individuals not members of qualifying teams. Donaldson took 25th in 17:08.
Other EHS finishers were Brett Koester 46th in 18:07.65, Izayah Goss 54th in 18:39.15, Brady Mapes 61st in 19:08.80, Patrick Sherrod 63rd in 19:14.38 and Parker Lindsey 69th in 21:28.93.
Donaldson will advance to the Class 2A Decatur MacArthur Sectional Saturday at Hickory Point Golf Course at 11 a.m.
