EHS Girls Fourth at Apollo Conference Meet

MATTOON -- Effingham High School finished fourth in the Apollo Conference girls cross country meet while the boys were sixth.

Winning the girls meet was Mattoon with 48 points followed by Charleston 61, Mount Zion 68, Effingham 107, Salem 113 and Taylorville 114.

Taylorville's Anna Lowry finished first in 19:27.14. Effingham's Miranda Fox took second in 20:22.92. Also scoring for the Hearts were Alexis Monnet 10th in 21:03.68, Meredith Kull 26th in 23:00.45, Ashlyn Hanks 39th in 24:46.51 and Brianna Schmidt 40th in 25:01.86.

In the boys meet, Charleston was the team champion with 57 points followed by Salem 64, Mount Zion 69, Mattoon 73, Taylorville 83 and Effingham 161.

Mount Zion's Mason Jones took first place with a time of 16:14.93. Effingham's Jacob Donaldson finished 17th in 17:55.88.

Also scoring for the Hearts were Brett Koester 37th in 19:23.59, Izayah Goss 38th in 19:26.03, Brady Mapes 49th in 20:06.50 and Patrick Sherrod 50th in 20:11.02.
