EHS Seventh in Girls Meet, Ninth in Boys Meet

Effingham High School finished seventh place in the Centralia Cross Country girls meet Saturday at Foundation Park while the boys squad captured ninth place.

Winning the girls meet was Mount Vernon with 57 followed by Rochester 98, Carbondale 102, Troy Triad 104, Breese Mater Dei 131, East St. Louis 165, Effingham 194, Olney 213, Alton 231, Belleville East 233, Springfield Lanphier 234, Mascoutah 375 and Marion 277.

Winning the individual title was Mount Vernon's Kate Bushue with a time of 19:15.1 minutes. Effingham's Miranda Fox took 10th in 20:28.1. Also scoring for the Hearts were Alexis Monnet 18th in 21:03.3, Meredith Kull 36th in 22:40.4 and Ashlyn Hanks 62nd in 24:16.2. Non-counters were Madison Tilford 79th in 25:45.0, Hope Monnet 80th in 25:54.9 and Kaylee Phillips 81st in 26:03.7.

In the boys meet, Marion won with 61 points followed by Alton 73, Carbondale 93, Mount Vernon 101, Breese Mater Dei 140, Olney 149, Mascoutah 155, Rochester 177, Effingham 2231, Springfield Lanphier 247 and Belleville East 310.

Winning the meet was Atlantis Green of Carbondale with a time of 16:13.8. Scoring first for the Hearts was Jacob Donaldson in 24th place in 18:08.7. Also scoring for the Hearts were Brett Koester 47th in 19:14.2, Izayah Goss 55th in 19:37.7, Brady Mapes 61st in 20:19.4 and Patrick Sherrod 63rd in 20:26.0. Non-counters were Chris Schaefer 69th in 20:45.4 and Eli Wilson 78th in 21:30.7.
