EHS Boys, Girls Compete at Charleston Invitational

CHARLESTON -- Effingham High School competed in the Charleston Boys and Girls Cross Country Invitationals Saturday.
In the girls meet, Mahomet-Seymour won the team championship with 35 points followed by Urbana 80, Charleston 97, Shelbyville 125, Mattoon 145, Danville 147, Mount Zion 152, Effingham 220, Champaign Central 244, Springfield Lanphier 265 and Fairfield 284.
Scoring for the Hearts were Alexis Monnet who finished 15th in 20:30.6, Meredith Kull 36th in 21:57.1, Ashlyn Hanks 55th in 23:56.9, Madison Tilford 56th in 24:00.5 and Hope Monnet 58th in 24:26.9. Non-counting were Brianna Schmidt 59th in 24:28.5 and Kaylee Phillips 70th in 27:55.6.
Urbana's Chian Scott captured first place with a time of 18:39.9.
In the boys meet, Mahomet-Seymour won with 15 points followed by Danville 65, Charleston 124, Mount Zion 132, Shelbyville 154, Urbana 157, Mattoon 165, Champaign Central 187, SOV 268, Springfield Lanphier 289, Effingham 317, Fairfield 323 and ICCP 347.
Mahomet-Seymour captured the top eight places with Andrew Walmer winning in 15:31.7.
Scoring for Effingham were Jacob Donaldson 35th in 17:35.3, Brett Koester 62nd in 18:50.4, Izayah Goss 69th in 19:38.3, Patrick Sherrod 74th in 19:57.7 and Brady Mapes 77th in 20:16.4. Non-counting were Chris Schaefer 78th in 20:23.3 and Eli Wilson 85th in 21:34.1.
