Boys Class 1A, 2A Regional Pairings Released

The season is winding down and the Illinois High School Association released pairings for the Class 1A and Class 2A boys basketball regionals. The Class 3A and 4A pairings will be released this Friday.

Effingham St. Anthony, St. Elmo/Brownstown, Beecher City, Cowden-Herrick and Altamont are among the local squads competing in the Class 1A Nokomis Regional. Altamont drew the No. 1 seed while St. Anthony is seeded second. Also in the field are Nokomis and Ramsey.

Five teams will be competing in the Class 1A Cumberland Regional and those include Stewardson-Strasburg, Cumberland, Neoga, Windsor and top-seeded Dieterich. Martinsville and Hutsonville/Palestine are also in the field. The regional begins next Monday and ends with the championship game Friday, February 28.

South Central will be competing in the Class 1A Mulberry Grove Regional along with Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran, Patoka, Odin, Sandoval and Mulberry Grove.

North Clay (Louisville) will take part in the Class 1A Edwards County (Albion) Regional. North Clay is seeded fifth. The top seed went to Oblong. Also in the field are Red Hill (Bridgeport), Cisne, Grayville, Edwards County and Clay City.

In Class 2A, Teutopolis and Newton will be competing in the Robinson Regional. Casey-Westfield drew the No. 1 seed while T-town was No. 2 and Newton No. 3. T-town and Newton meet Wednesday, February 26 at 8 p.m.
