EHS Freshmen Win Hillsboro Tournament Title

HILLSBORO -- Effingham High School's freshman boys basketball squad downed Pana 71-58 to claim the championship of the Hillsboro Freshman Tournament Thursday evening.

The Hearts trailed Pana 21-14 after the first quarter but had pulled within a point at halftime, 29-28. EHS then went ballistic in the third quarter, ripping off 33 points while holding Pana to only six.

Brent Beals tallied 20 points for the Hearts while Jacob Donaldson added 17 and Cory Osborn 11.
