FARINA -- Effingham St. Anthony High School had three players hit double digits as the Bullldogs downed South Central 59-37 in boys basketball competition Tuesday evening.
J. Goeckner led the way with 15 points while A. Gardewine tallied 12 and N. Williams 10. The Bulldogs stepped out to a 19-10 opening quarter lead and led 33-23 at halftime. The scoring slowed down in the third period as the Bulldogs had a 6-3 edge.
South Central was led by E. Langley with 14 points while N. Powless tallied 11.

Altamont bounced Neoga 70-39 in National Trail Conference competition Tuesday evening.
Altamont trailed Neoga 13-10 after the opening quarter but came back to lead 34-29 at halftime and 55-35 going into the final quarter.
Four players hit double figures for Altamont. Garrett Ziegler tallied 15, Justin McGinnis 14, Klaiton Wolff 12 and Ryan Armstrong 11.
Neoga was led by J. Baker with 16 points.

Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran edged St. Elmo/Brownstown 51-47 in action Tuesday evening.
Christ Our Rock Lutheran held a slight 23-22 edge at halftime. St. Elmo/Brownstown came back with a 17-12 third quarter run to lead 39-35 going into the final quarter. However, Christ Our Rock Lutheran had a 16-8 final period run to pull out the victory.
Both teams had two players in double figures. Christ Our Rock Lutheran was led by Caleb Boehne with 21 and Austin Grove with 16.
St. Elmo/Brownstown was led by Jacob Behrends with 21 and Levi Maxey with 13. The Eagles drop to 14-10 overall.

Mulberry Grove edged Cowden-Herrick 65-63. Mulberry Grove held a 19-13 first period edge. Cowden-Herrick came back for a 35-29 halftime lead and led 49-38 going into the final quarter. Mulberry Grove then outscored C-H to push the game into overtime and outscored the Hornets 10-8 for the win.
Lathan led three four players in double digits for Mulberry Grove with 20 while Crisman added 14, Redfern 12 and Criner 10. Cowden-Herrick was led by Burrus with 37 and Evans with 10.

Patoka held a 30-21 halftime lead then outscored the Eagles 27-21 in the second half. Clift tallied 16 and Cain 14 for the winners.
Cowden-Herrick was led by Jacob Kenter with 13 and Jackson Bales with 11. Austin Rexroad had nine rebounds while Andrew Lagerhausen pulled down eight. Adam Doty had four steals.

Newton edged Charleston 57-56. The Trojans held a 26-23 halftime lead and led 41-36 going into the final quarter. Newton then came roaring back with a 21-15 final period charge. Brock Mammoser scored with 12 seconds left as the Eagles pulled out the win.
Mammoser finished with 22 points while Caleb Chestnut added 15 and Luke Huston 13. Pickens and Huston had six rebounds each. The Eagles, ranked 19th in the lastest Associated Press poll, improved to 20-4 on the season.
Charleston lost its seventh straight game and drops to 2-16.

Stew-Stras was led by Brandon Helmuth with 33 points, 12 coming in the opening quarter. Fry added 17 and Jones 10.
