Bulldogs Down Paris, Girls Roundup

Effingham St. Anthony High School defeated Paris 43-24 in non-conference girls basketball action Saturday.

The two teams were tied at 7-7 after the opening quarter before St. Anthony edged out to a 21-15 halftime lead. The Bulldogs then had a 22-9 second half run.

Lauren Wendt, Megan Nuxoll and Kate Richards tallied 12 points each in even scoring for the Bulldogs. Paris was led by Keller with 11 points.

St. Anthony now sports a 17-7 record.

Teutopolis handed Altamont a 53-20 loss in non-conference competition Saturday.

The Wooden Shoes put the game in the win column early by dashing out to a 34-8 halftime lead. Madeline Hartke tallied 13 to lead the winners while Cierra Thompson added 12 and Repking 10.

Altamotn was led by M. Ohnesorge with eight.

Newton played host to Robinson and picked up a 57-27 Little Illini Conference win to improve to 6-4 in the conference, 11-13 overall.

The Eagles stepped out to a 17-3 opening quarter lead and never looked back. Cartright led 10 players in scoring with 10 points.
