ADRIAN, Mich. – Led by four players in double-figures, the Indiana Tech men’s basketball team won its third straight game, defeating Siena Heights 59-51 on Wednesday night at Saints Gym.

The Warriors (14-8, 9-5) got off to a fast start, scoring the game’s first four points with a jumper from Jeremy Wohltman (Effingham) and a layup from John Cooksey. A 13-4 run from the Saints (8-15, 4-11) gave the home team a five-point, 13-8 lead with 12:47 left in the half. A Wohltman jumper followed by a Jeff Hoskins layup and two free throws from Nick Lewis gave Tech the lead, 14-13. The two teams tied two more times and the lead changed hands twice, before Lewis sank a jumper with 55 seconds left to give the Warriors the 29-28 lead going into the break.

Tech dominated inside, outscoring the Saints 16-8 in the paint, despite being outrebounded 16-10 in the half. The Warriors also got 10 points off eight SHU turnovers while the Saints gathered just seven points off five Tech turnovers.

A 6-2 run to start the second half stretched the Tech lead to five, 35-30, with 17:40 to play. A 7-2 run by SHU tied the game for the sixth time and after a Parker Stouffer layup the Saints tied the score again at 39 with 11:54 to go. A Cooksey layup gave the Warriors a one point lead at the 11:25 mark and the Orange and Black never looked back. After trading baskets for several minutes, the Warriors eventually stretched the lead to seven, 53-46 with 1:33 to play. SHU cut the lead to four twice in the final 1:33, but the Warriors made six of their eight free throws down the stretch to seal the eight-point, 59-51 lead.

The Warriors finished the contest 20-for-54 (37%) from the field while going just 2-for-10 (20%) from three, but did convert 73.9 percent (17-for-23) of their free throws. The defense held SHU to 34 percent (16-for-47) shooting, despite a 4-for-13 (30.8%) mark from behind the arc and the Saints finished 15-for-23 (65.25) from the charity stripe.
