No. 1 Arizona Holds Off Stanford

(Palo Alto, CA) -- Nick Johnson scored a game-high 16 points as top-ranked Arizona held on for a 60-57 win over Stanford at Maples Pavilion. T.J. McConnell added 11 points and eight rebounds for the Wildcats, who remain perfect on the season at 21-0 and are 8-0 in Pac-12 play.  U-of-A is at California on Saturday. Second-ranked Syracuse knocked off Wake Forest 67-57
 

No. 7 Kansas Rolls No. 18 Iowa State

(Lawrence, KS) -- Andrew Wiggins tallied 29 points and seven rebounds to carry the number-seven Jayhawks to a 92-81 win over the 18th-ranked Cyclones from Allen Fieldhouse. Perry Ellis added 20 points and six rebounds while Naadir Tharpe posted 12 points and as many assists for Kansas, which improved to 16-and-4 and 7-and-0 in the Big 12. Joel Embiid had 14 points and 11 boards in the win. Georges Niang scored 24 points to pace Iowa State, which slipped to 15-and-4 and 3-and-4 in the Big 12. DeAndre Kane added 22 points in the loss.


Northwestern Sinks No. 13 Wisconsin

(Madison, WI) -- Drew Crawford registered 30 points and eight rebounds as the Northwestern Wildcats whipped the No. 13 Wisconsin Badgers 65-56 in Madison. JerShon Cobb added 10 points and six rebounds for Northwestern, which improved to 11-11 overall and 4-5 in the Big Ten. The Wildcats clash with the Golden Gophers in Minnesota Saturday.


Saint Louis Blasts Richmond

(St. Louis, MO) -- Saint Louis got double-doubles from Jordair Jett and Dwayne Evans in a 77-57 win over Richmond at home. Jett finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds and Evans logged 15 points and 10 boards. The 21st-ranked Billikens improved to 19-2 overall and 6-0 in the Atlantic 10. They host George Mason Saturday.


Memphis Sinks Central Florida

(Orlando, FL) -- After struggling in the first half Memphis pulled away in the second earning a 69-59 win over Central Florida at CFE Arena yesterday.  Joe Jackson led the way with 17 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals as the Tigers improved to 16-4 overall and 6-2 in the AAC. Memphis is at SMU Saturday.


Penn State Upsets No. 23 Ohio State

(Columbus, OH) --  D.J. Newbill's jumper with two-seconds left in overtime lifted Penn State to a 71-70 upset win over 23rd-ranked Ohio State at Value City Arena in Columbus. LaQuinton Ross recorded 16 points and seven boards to lead the Buckeyes, who have lost five-of-six to dip to 16-5 and 3-5. Lenzelle Smith Jr. added 15 points and Amir Williams scored 12 in defeat. OSU is at Wisconsin Saturday.

Santa Clara's upset bid came up just short as No. 24 Gonzaga defeated the Broncos 54-52.

 

SIUE Win Fourth Consecutive Home Game

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE men's basketball won its fourth consecutive home game Wednesday defeating Crowley's Ridge 77-48 in nonconference action at Vadalabene Center.

The Cougars improved to 8-14 overall. Crowley's Ridge dropped to 9-10.

After a slow start which saw the Pioneers go up by five (8-3) after the first 3:37, the Cougars rebounded with a 19-2 run to lead 22-10 after a layup by Ray Lester with 6:52 left in the half. The Cougars led 36-21 at halftime.

"I thought our guys started off slow," SIUE Head Coach Lennox Forrester said. "I told them at halftime, you have to play hard all the time. If you don't play hard, any team can beat you. I thought we picked it up in the second half."


Illinois Hopes To Rebound Saturday

(Champaign, IL) -- If Illinois is to break out of a six-game losing streak, it will have a tough task on Saturday. The Fighting Illini take on 12th-ranked Iowa at home. Illinois is 2-and-6 in the Big Ten while the Hawkeyes are 5-3 and 16-5 overall.
