C-W, Olney Advance to LIC Title Game, T-town Beats Paris

OLNEY -- Newton High School fell to Casey-Westfield 50-39 in the Little Illini Conference Tournament Tuesday evening.

The Warriors held an 18-13 first quarter lead and had a 28-22 second half run for the win. Wolfe tallied 24 to lead the winners. Newton was led by Mammoser with 14.

In the second contest, Olney defeated Lawrenceville 55-40.

The championship will feature Casey-Westfield against Olney at 8 p.m. Friday. Newton drops into the third place contest against Lawrenceville at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Tonight's contests, in consolation bracket action, feature Flora against Olbong at 6 p.m. followed by Marshall taking on Robinson at 7:30. The consolation championship will be Friday at 5 p.m.

At Paris

This was a low-scoring contest but Teutopolis came out a 34-28 winner over Paris. The Wooden Shoes held a 3-2 opening quarter lead but the score was knotted at 8-8 at the half. T-town finally took off with a 13-9 third period run.

Brett Mette was the lone player in the contest to finish in doiuble figures with 11 for the Shoes. T-town improves to 12-7 on the season and will host Paxton-Buckley-Loda Friday.
