Boys Frosh/Soph Scores From January 16

Flora and Teutopolis picked up victories in the St. Anthony Freshman Boys Basketball Tournament Thursday.

Flora edged Altamont 67-63. Altamont held a 34-31 halftime lead but Flora came back to lead 50-49 going into the final period then had a 17-14 run by hitting nine free throws.

Flora was led by Gaither with 22, Trotter with 16, Scott with 13 and Smith with 10. Altamont was led by Shepard with 22, Betts with 15 and Cornett with 10.

Teutopolis then claimed a 65-27 win over St. Anthony. The Shoes jumped out to a 23-4 opening quarter lead and never looked back. Three players hit double figures led by Kenter with 14, Hardiek with 13 and Deters with 11.

St. Anthony was led by Gibson with nine points.

At Robinson

Effingham picked up two wins in freshman/sophomore boys basketball competition Thursday evening.

Effingham was a 52-27 winner in freshman play. The Hearts jumped out to a 20-2 opening quarter lead and never looked back. Jacob Donaldson scored 14 and Brent Beals 10 for the winners.

In sophomore play, Effingham claimed a 53-32 win. The Hearts held just a five-point lead at halftime but came back with an 18-9 third quarter run. Michael Woltman led 11 players in scoring with 11 points.
