St. Elmo/Brownstown picked up two wins over Effingham Sacred Heart in junior high basketball action Wednesday evening.
St. Elmo/Brownstown won the seventh-grade contest 41-8. Karnes tallied 13 and Aderman 10 for the winners. W. Swingler led the Shamrocks with four.
In eighth-grade play, St. Elmo/Brownstown won over Sacred Heart 57-29. Brown scored 23 and Denton 15 for the winners. C. Helmink led Sacred Heart with 11.

At Teutopolis
In a seventh-grade A contest, Teutopolis edged Mattoon 34-33. Mattoon jumped out to a big 12-3 opening quarter lead but T-town started coming back and pulled within 18-11 at halftime. The two teams scored six each in the third period.
T-town then went on a 17-9 fourth quarter tear and pulled out the win in the final quarter. Dawson Smith scored 16 to lead the winners.

Dieterich picked up two victories. Dieterich won the seventh-grade contest 39-22. In eighth-grade action, Dieterich won 50-24.

The Junior Midland Trail Conference Tournament at Olney St. Joseph had two games played Wednesday evening.
Olney St. Joseph defeated Clay City 35-15 and North Clay (Louisville) won over South Central 35-25.
Tonight's games feature Cisne against Noble at 4:30 p.m. for the consolation championship, Clay City against South Central for third place at 6 p.m. and St. Joseph taking on North Clay at 7:30 p.m for the championship.
