Newton Captures Boys Basketball Victory Over Cumberland

TOLEDO -- Newton High School came calling and took a 63-42 Litttle Illini Conference victory over Cumberland Saturday in boys basketball action.

The Eagles took a 19-10 opening quarter lead behind Luke Stone's eight points. The Eagles pushed that lead to 32-20 at halftime and then had a 21-4 third period run. Gunner Pickens scored seven in the run.

Stone finished with 17 to lead Newton while Lucas Huston added 10. Cumberland was led by Houston Napier with 11 and Trevor Beard with 10.
